Cheoah River Release near Robbinsville, NC, Whitewater Kayaking with Class IV-V Rapids
Santeetlah Dam releases flows into the Cheoah River according to a regular schedule. Located near Robbinsville, North Carolina near the western edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, for nine miles, the Cheoah roars through continuous Class IV-V rapids, culminating with Bear Creek Falls, a dramatic twelve-foot waterfall, which is shown in this video, and easily viewed off U.S. 129, near the Tail of the Dragon.
